“<\/span>Connantre\u00a0is a major agro-industrial complex,<\/span><\/i>” said Olivier\u00a0Leducq, Director of\u00a0Tereos\u00a0Sucre Europe, at the inauguration on Wednesday 17 November.\u00a0“<\/span>Already a leading sugar\u00a0plant\u00a0in Europe, the site is further increasing its production capacity thanks to this new wash\u00a0house with exceptional performance.\u00a0Connantre\u00a0is a pilot site for\u00a0Tereos; the Group has invested heavily\u00a0in it\u00a0over the past ten years to accelerate the modernisation of processes and its energy transition. Digitisation, decarbonisation and energy optimisation are at the heart of this investment plan.<\/span><\/i>”\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

As far as\u00a0Connantre’s\u00a0overall performance\u00a0is concerned, the old wash\u00a0house represented a weak point, given its age. Commissioned for its first\u00a0harvest\u00a0in October 1975, with a washing capacity of 14,000 tons of\u00a0sugar\u00a0beet per day, the equipment has been expanded over the years to 23,000 tons.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In a sugar plant, the wash house is the entry point of the\u00a0sugar\u00a0beets in the sugar extraction process. The quality of the washing depends to a large extent on the\u00a0sugar\u00a0beet processing capacity. More\u00a0generally, the performance of the wash house has a direct impact on the three main\u00a0value drivers:\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Launched in 2018 as part of\u00a0Tereos’ industrial performance plan, the installation project required meticulous planning management so that the new equipment would be operational when the 2021-2022\u00a0harvest\u00a0starts. 100% made in France, the\u00a032-metre\u00a0long\u00a0wash house\u00a0was designed by the\u00a0company\u00a0Maguin\u00a0and\u00a0transported\u00a0by road to be installed in the sugar\u00a0plant.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
