In 2015, Tereos became the first French sugar group to join this major initiative, which now unites the leading international players of the food and beverage sector.<\/p>\n<p>Having committed to ensuring that 75% of its raw materials are certified or evaluated as sustainable by 2020, the Group has chosen to have its progress in this field assessed against the SAI Platform\u2019s \u201cFarm Sustainability Assessment\u201d (FSA) standard.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-6718 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/tereos.com\/app\/uploads\/2019\/10\/citation-plan-de-travail-1-copie-7-0.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"492\" height=\"93\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.tereos.com\/app\/uploads\/2019\/10\/citation-plan-de-travail-1-copie-7-0.png 2580w, https:\/\/www.tereos.com\/app\/uploads\/2019\/10\/citation-plan-de-travail-1-copie-7-0-300x57.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 492px) 100vw, 492px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Tereos initially directed this approach at the Group\u2019s 12,000 cooperative associates. All were certified either gold or silver in 2016 (a result that has since been improved upon with their certification being renewed in summer 2019). At the end of 2017, our agricultural suppliers in the Czech Republic and Spain also successfully gained the certification. This year, the practice was extended to R\u00e9union and Romania:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-6721 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/tereos.com\/app\/uploads\/2019\/10\/citation-plan-de-travail-1-copie-8-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"457\" height=\"182\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.tereos.com\/app\/uploads\/2019\/10\/citation-plan-de-travail-1-copie-8-1.png 2580w, https:\/\/www.tereos.com\/app\/uploads\/2019\/10\/citation-plan-de-travail-1-copie-8-1-300x119.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 457px) 100vw, 457px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>A methodology based on self-assessment<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In accordance with the SAI Platform\u2019s assessment methodology, a sample of the associates is selected and each must complete a questionnaire concerning the practices used on their farm. The questionnaire addresses 112 criteria divided into three categories: environmental protection, economic management, and the social circumstances of its employees and local communities.
