Tereos is taking a new step in its commitment to decarbonization and regenerative agriculture and reaffirms its ability to offer sustainable and concrete offers by launching Cultivate Net-Zero. This exclusive offer is intended to support our industrial customers (agri-food, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, etc.) in the decarbonization of their value chain, from the upstream agricultural stage, while promoting the commitment of our cooperative members and our suppliers of plant-based raw materials to a more resilient and sustainable agriculture.

Cultivate Net-Zero, three reliable and value-creating solutions for sustainable and decarbonized agriculture and industry.

Cultivate Net Zero consists of three complementary solutions

  • Activate: start the decarbonization trajectory with raw materials for an immediate reduction of the carbon footprint
  • Connect: accelerate the trajectory towards carbon neutrality thanks to a personalized program for precise carbon performance management
  • Engage: commit to regenerative agriculture through a structuring partnership, based on robust indicators.

Cultivate Net-Zero is based on Tereos’ decarbonization strategy, the targets of which have been validated across its entire value chain and with a Net-Zero objective by the international reference standard Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi/FLAG), guaranteeing a trajectory aligned with the objective of limiting warming to 1.5°C. The proposed emission reductions are measurable, verifiable and directly integrated into the offer for our customers.

Cultivate Net-Zero, the first step to a decarbonized final product

Tereos uses its raw materials as the starting point for more responsible end products. By choosing sugars, alcohols and starches that are decarbonized at the source, our customers can take concrete action on the carbon impact of their products – right from the first link.

This integrated approach is based on a major industrial transformation. We are investing nearly €800 million since 2022 and until 2033 to carry out more than 100 decarbonization projects spread over 16 sites, enabling a 65% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions in Europe. Thanks to these efforts, the Cultivate Net-Zero offer can now rely on modernized industrial sites to meet our customers’ climate commitments.

Cultivate Net-Zero, an approach that promotes the commitment of our cooperative members and suppliers to regenerative and low-carbon agriculture

Tereos has two ambitious objectives by 2032-33:

  • 20% of our plant-based raw material supplies will come from regenerative or low-carbon agriculture
  • 36% reduction in our greenhouse gas emissions on the agricultural component of its activities compared to 2022-23

Tereos encourages and supports the transition to a more resilient and sustainable agriculture. This includes the commitment of our cooperative members and suppliers to regenerative and low-carbon agriculture, aligned to ensure customers’ climate challenges.

In France, we are already supporting our cooperative members in these efforts, in particular by covering 75% of the financial cost of 1,000 carbon diagnostics, and by participating in ambitious regenerative agriculture programs, such as Transitions and Transitions Noriap led by Vivescia, Pour une Agriculture Du Vivant (PADV) via its “COVALO” program, or Earthworm’s multi-sector program in Hauts-de-France.

In addition, depending on the farm’s program and performance, Tereos pays its members a Sector bonus for the areas used for sugar beet, ranging from €50 to €150/ha, to support them in their regenerative and low-carbon practices.
