Tereos signs partnership agreement with the Hauts-de-France region’s Conservatoire des Espaces Naturels (Conservatory of Natural Areas) at its Origny site

Protecting and promoting one of the last calcareous grasslands (grasslands that grow in limestone soil) in the north of the French Aisne department: this is the objective of the partnership agreement signed this morning by Nicolas SALIGNON, director of the Tereos sugar factory and distillery in Origny, and Christophe Lépine, President of the Conservatoire des Espaces Naturels des Hauts de France, in the presence of the mayors of Origny, Neuvillette, and Thenelles.

Under this agreement, Tereos is entrusting the Conservatoire des Espaces Naturels des Hauts de France with the ecological management of a 2.6-hectare plot of land located within the Origny site in the “Montagne de Neuvillette” area for a period of 10 years. This area, which is home to one of the last dry grasslands in northern Aisne as well as several species of fauna and flora of interest, will be the subject of a dedicated ecological management plan.

This local action illustrates the first pillar of Tereos’ CSR commitments: “Cultivate our connection with Nature and territories” in particular by preserving natural resources and biodiversity.
