COVID-19 solidarity: Tereos Sugar & Energy Brazil donates 20,000 litres of alcohol

Alcohol is supplied to hospitals and to Regional Healthcare Units in the North West part of the state of São Paulo, where the Group operates  

In contribution to the global fight against the coronavirus pandemic (Covid-19), Tereos Sugar & Energy Brazil announced a donation of 20,000 liters 70° alcohol to hospitals and to Regional health care units. The alcohol will be provided to the cities located in the northwest region of the State of São Paulo, where the Group’s sugar, ethanol and bioenergy plants are located.

With the authorization of Anvisa (Brazilian Health Regulatory Agency), issued on Friday, March 20, Tereos began production of 70% hydrated alcohol, which will be available in 1,000-liter containers for hospitals and 25-liter containers for Regional healthcare units. 

Among the institutions that will receive the donation are:
the Base Hospital in São José do Rio Preto, the Hospital do Amor in 
Barretos ; the health departments of Guapiaçu, São José do Rio Preto, Severínia, Tabapuã and Viradouro and those of  Santas Casas de Barretos, Bebedouro, Cajobi, Colina, Guaíra, Guaraci, Olímpia, Pitangueiras, São José do Rio Preto and Tanabi

 

In order to enable emergency alcohol production, UNICA (Brazilian Sugarcane Industry Association) has promoted cooperation between the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply, the Ministry of Mines and Energy, the Ministry of Health, the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) and the State health services.
