Tereos, playing a role in sustainable development
The Group is renewing its commitment trough 7 goals
As a leader in the international sugar, starch, and alcohol markets, Tereos has a major role to play in sustainable development throughout its processing chain, in its agricultural practices, and in reducing waste of all plant-based raw materials. This year, the Group, which is aware of its impact, is renewing its commitment to the United Nations Global Compact for the third time. This pact encourages companies around the world to adopt socially and environmentally responsible behavior.
Tereos has signed this pact since 2017, committing to advance its practices every year on matters concerning human rights, working conditions in their plants and fields, the environment, and combating corruption.
Commitment in the form of compliance to the Sustainable Development Goals
Four years ago today, on September 25, 2015, the United Nations introduced 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) to create a concrete action plan to eradicate poverty, protect the planet, and ensure prosperity for all by a deadline of 2030. The SDGs encompass numerous challenges including water, energy, agriculture, climate, and biodiversity, and they are intended for states and institutions, businesses and civil society. Tereos contributes to 7 of the SDGs which relate to its regional sites and business sector.
