Positive industry

As a major industrial actor present in a number of sectors – food processing, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics, energy, etc. – Tereos conducts its growth and development while reducing its impact on the environment.

To do that, the Group pays special attention to the energy performance of its factories and to controlling its waste emitted into the water and air.

By making the most of the resources that it processes, the Group is fully integrating the logic of a circular economy, which allows it to limit its environmental impact by reducing its greenhouse gas emissions and increasing its use of renewable energy, all while improving its industrial and commercial performance.

More than 99% of the raw materials transformed by Tereos factories are recovered

Green steam for sustainable production

The Tereos site in Lillebonne, near Le Havre (France), has partnered with Ecostu'Air, an energy recovery unit operated by SUEZ that produces steam from household waste. This project was named “Jury Favourite” at the LSA Diversity and CSR Awards in September 2016.

Electricity produced thanks to sugar cane

Tereos makes use of bagasse, the fibrous residue left over after sugar cane has been crushed, as a renewable energy source everywhere that it produces and processes sugar cane.

Bagasse is burned in high-efficiency boilers to produce steam and electricity. This energy powers Tereos’ industrial sites and the unused electricity is fed into the public grid

12% of the electricity consumed on Réunion Island is produced from bagasse
