Tereos signs partnership agreement with the Hauts-de-France region’s Conservatoire des Espaces Naturels (Conservatory of Natural Areas) at its Origny site

Protecting and promoting one of the last calcareous grasslands (grasslands that grow in limestone soil) in the north of the French Aisne department: this is the objective of the partnership agreement signed this morning by Nicolas SALIGNON, director of the Tereos sugar factory and distillery in Origny, and Christophe Lépine, President of the Conservatoire des Espaces Naturels des Hauts de France, in the presence of the mayors of Origny, Neuvillette, and Thenelles.
Under this agreement, Tereos is entrusting the Conservatoire des Espaces Naturels des Hauts de France with the ecological management of a 2.6-hectare plot of land located within the Origny site in the “Montagne de Neuvillette” area for a period of 10 years. This area, which is home to one of the last dry grasslands in northern Aisne as well as several species of fauna and flora of interest, will be the subject of a dedicated ecological management plan.
This local action illustrates the first pillar of Tereos' CSR commitments: “Cultivate our connection with Nature and territories” in particular by preserving natural resources and biodiversity.

Bioplastics: Tereos partners with Avantium and LVMH to develop PEF production in Europe

Tereos has signed a Memoranda of Understanding with Avantium, a leader in renewable and circular polymer materials, with the aim of accelerating the industrial production of PEF (polyethylene furanoate), Avantium’s high-performance polymer that is 100% renewable and recyclable, marketed under the brand name releaf®.
Releaf® is made from plant-based raw materials and can be used in a wide range of applications, including food and beverage packaging, cosmetic packaging, fashion, and industrial fibers.
This alliance brings together Avantium, the inventor of releaf®, Tereos, a leader in the processing of plant-based raw materials, and LVMH GAÏA, the scientific and environmental R&D division of LVMH Louis Vuitton-Moët Hennessy, the global luxury leader. It is a pioneering initiative for the development of bio-based plastics derived from plant resources, contributing to the transition away from fossil-based plastics.
“We are proud to strengthen our collaboration with LVMH and Avantium. Tereos has made strong commitments for regenerative agriculture and decarbonization from the field to finished products, which are reflected in our Cultivate Net Zero customer offer. Today, our partnership marks a new step in the development of sustainable solutions for green chemistry markets.” — Olivier Leducq, CEO of Tereos.
